I’ve shared with you several Robert Mondavi wines and they just keep getting better and better.  This week I have three varieties that are perfect accompaniments to your Thanksgiving Table.

The 2011 Napa Valley Chardonnay is a nice way to start the evening with some light fruits and cheese plates.  This vintage has a unique combination of crisp and warm tones.  My first reaction was the cool crisp of apple and melon followed by a warm vanilla, slightly spicy ending creamy and smooth.  I had to test it over and over and it was always the same, a truly different Chardonnay than I have tasted before.

This blend of Chardonnay from different sources in Napa Valley along with the French Oak produce a wonderful rich wine.

Moving on to the Main Course, I would pick this 2012 Napa Valley Pinot Noir.  This earthy wine carries flavors of berries, plums, brown sugar and spices.  Perfectly matching all the garnishments in a traditional turkey dinner.  I would really love this wine with a mushroom stuffing!

The Pinot Noir is 100% Napa Carneros region and is characteristic of wines of this region exhibiting a spicy berry fruit.

The last wine I tried was the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon.  I saved this one for dessert because we don’t always have the traditional pumpkin pie in my house since my hubby is not a pumpkin fan.  Instead, I would choose to pair this with a rich dark chocolate cake topped with a black cherry sauce or raspberry sauce.  I’m drooling a bit right now just thinking about it!

This Cab is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 3 % Petit Verdot.  This combination from the Napa Valley produces a lush ripe blackberry and current flavor combined with a hint of mocha and black pepper.  The fruitiness lingers from start to finish making this a perfect pairing more a rich decadent dessert.

These wines range from $19-28 a bottle and are appropriate for a nice sit down dinner with those you are thankful for.  I can’t wait to share them with my family.
